24/7 Plant Scheduling
Manufacturing plants, refineries, factories and other businesses that operate 24 hours a day typically use rotating shift schedules to schedule their workers to 8 hour shifts, 10 hour shifts, 12 hour shifts or a combination of shifts to meet their staffing needs. In addition to spreadsheets, we also provide software for making work schedules.
Our Series 3 Template Schedulers can create your 24/7/365 manufacturing plant schedules for up to 52 weeks using either fixed or rotating shifts and either fixed or rotating days off. You can use 8 hour shifts, 12 hour shifts, or a combination of shift lengths to match your labor supply to your labor demand. You can even use a combination of 8 and 12 hour shifts to schedule your people to work 4 days and 40 hours a week which usually matches your staffing needs better than using 10 hour shifts to achieve a 4 day workweek for your employees.
The schedulers can use any shift pattern that you can imagine. And if you need help imagining shift patterns, we offer hundreds of 8, 10 and 12 hour schedules covering 1, 2 and 3 shifts a day for 5, 6 and 7 days a week. Click here for details.
Once you have established your schedule and work patterns, individual employee schedules can be easily adjusted to accommodate employee availability and your staffing needs. Vacation scheduling is a snap and you can easily schedule people to cover the vacated shifts. The program keeps track of the number of people scheduled for each shift and will alert you when vacations and other employee absences drops shift staffing below a critical level. The overtime scheduling feature keeps track of the number of overtime hours worked by each employee and will tell you which employees have the fewest overtime hours and which ones are available for an extra shift each day.
We also offer a version of our template schedulers that allows you to assign daily tasks to your employees on the days they are scheduled for a shift.
